SOLAR POWER PLANT
45 megawatt photovoltaic solar power plant in the Cuyama Valley

250 megawatt photovoltaic solar power plant in Carrizo Plain

submitted by: Marty Eifrid 5/21/2011

Plans have been started to give this landmark sign some attention. Even though the Chamber of Commerce in the Cuyama Valley has been inactive for some time, there is renewed interest in reviving the Chamber.

As long as commerce has existed, traders have banded together for the common protection against enemies, to govern the conduct of trade, and later to exert influence on legislation.

The Chamber of Commerce is organized to focus attention and initiate private sector action on the major issues affecting the economic well-being and quality of life in the area. As it is a private, non-profit association supported largely by its members, membership investments and contributions provide the resources for Chamber programs. The Chamber receives no direct government funding.

Chimineas Ranch
submitted by: Mike Post 7/11/2008

Do you have a memory or an artifact related to the historic Chimineas Ranch? Mike Post, Dept. of Fish & Game volunteer, is compiling a historical record of the ranch from the Chumash occupation of the area through the purchase of the ranch by DFG. Claudia Russell has already provided significant information regarding her family's decades long ownership and association with the ranch. Post would like to reach out to others with a long heritage in the valley who may have interesting stories, photos which can be copied or artifacts which can be documented or donated. Mike Post can be contacted at chimineasranch@aol.com.

Chimineas Ranch Memories
Submitted by: Carin Sharp 9/1/2009

I lived on the Chimineas Ranch when I was a child. Some of my greatest memories are from that time. The Arnold family owned the Ranch at the time. Claudia, Kathy my sister Laurie and I spent many hours in the pool and in the pool house. As well as helping with round up, what a life it was. I just wanted to ask thank you to the Arnold for the best memories a child could have.
